Team Gearing Up for Departure

On Tuesday, June 21, the Zambia Workteam 2011 met for a BBQ and to cover the final chapter of the short-term mission workbook. Ray and Eleanor, our liaisons with Nu-Vision Ministry Canada, also came to join in with the fellowship, and go over some last-minute details.

We are still receiving donations for our projects at the Lifesong School, and have surpassed our $15,000 fundraising goal. Because of this, we have been able to purchase a few additional things for the school. Doug was able to secure a projector for the computer lab, and Beverley was able to track down a chemclave for the clinic. Because of the overwhelming response to our call for hand-knitted toques for the children, we are taking over 400 with us! Finally, we have received donations of t-shirts and girl's dresses.

The team will be meeting on Monday, June 27 at the Nu-Vision office to pack suitcases with all of these items. First, though, the team will be commissioned at a service on Sunday, June 26 at 10:00 am at St. James' Anglican Church in Murillo (for directions, click here). We invite all of our family, friends and supporters to attend this service.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone for their generosity, interest and support of our team. We will be flying out on Saturday, July 2. Your prayers are also appreciated as we prepare spiritually, and we are excited to see what God has in store for us in Zambia.
